Preis der Nationalgalerie 2017
29.09.2017 to 14.01.2018
Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin
This year, Sol Calero (born 1982 in Caracas), Iman Issa (born 1979 in Cairo), Jumana Manna (born 1987 in Princeton) and Agnieszka Polska (born in 1985 in Lublin) have been nominated for the Preis der Nationalgalerie 2017 by an international jury. The museum prize is awarded every two years and pays tribute to artists under 40 who live and work in Germany. All four artistic positions, which are presented in a joint exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, are not just engaged in a purely artistic discourse. Producing art spanning several media at once, they rather use their work to reflect social processes.
A new life sign from Kyoko from New Yorck with a nice surprise
Hello Michael, Kathrin
I wonder if you remember me. I was at your school in 2007-2008. I am having my first solo show in New York City, and wondered if I could share this good news with you as a way to thank you again all your help and support during my time in Berlin. I know that without it, I would not be where I am today.
A dear old friend of mine has recently moved to Berlin, and I am hoping to revisit the city, perhaps next year. I would be grateful for the chance to stop by and say hello then.
Wishing your continued success with your school and artwork,
Every Friday our theory seminar takes place in the afternoon. Again and again, we invite exciting people with equally exciting lives and life drafts. On the last Friday, the animator Jens Blank, who also regularly attends our nude drawing classes, visited us and presented his work in a very entertaining way. It was amazing seeing all his art work. Thanks a lot. YIP!
After it was quite cold in September we were still lucky with the weather in October and enjoyed the warm weather. We arranged a visit at the Berlin Zoo as every year. Even if there are usually critical voices, the visit is a very special plus for the drawing units, as you can`t see such a variety of body forms nowhere else as in the zoo. And so this time the visit was again a success.
Also this semester we have once again made a unit on the subject of film studies in collaboration with the artist Chris Schaal. Chris works as a freelance filmmaker in Stuttgart and also teaches at the Art Academy there. Like last year this unit has been a lot of fun and has produced a lot of good results.
